Man of the Week – Charlie Whitehurst

Written by: Valerie Shea

You are probably wondering “Who the hell is Charlie Whitehurst??” and I can’t blame you. Even I had no idea he existed until a few days ago, but I am happy to now know that he walks the earth. For the last four NFL seasons Charlie has been the #3 quarterback for the San Diego Chargers, and he’s never thrown a pass in the regular season. Oh well, at least he has his good looks and a shiny new 2 year, $10 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

Just last week the Chargers traded Whitehurst to Seattle where he’ll compete with Matt Hasselbeck for the starting position. Hasselbeck hasn’t been able to avoid injuries lately, so odds are Whitehurst will see regular season action at some point this year, and I can’t wait to watch him go. Charlie played college ball for the Clemson Tigers, and he’s yet another NFL legacy player. His father David Whitehurst is best known as quarterback for the Green Bay Packers from 1977-1983.

I have three tips to help Charlie through this next NFL season.

1. Lose the hair.
2. Keep the beard.
3. SMILE!

Around the Tube: Dwight Howard

Written by: The Jersey Kid

I find it amazing that the NBA is struggling financially when the league is chock full of so many exciting superstars. While Lebron is clearly “The King” of the NBA, he’s definitely not the most charismatic guy off the court. There are two players in particular that time and again manage to balance the fine line between athlete and entertainer. (more…)
