Before you marks jump down my throat, let me state my definition of Wrestler of the Decade:  the wrestler who had the biggest impact on the industry.  I’m not talking titles or who “works” the best. Impact on the industry. Got it?  Good.  Some will call me a “WWE mark,” while others will tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. Regardless of what they say, John Cena was the wrestler of the decade.

Winning SSP's Wrestler of the Decade is Basic Thuganomics.

Instead of beginning the column explaining why I choose Cena, I’ll instead begin by explaining why I didn’t choose other viable options. (more…)

Hogan was the muscled-up superhero that fans that fans looked up to. Vince McMahon was able to use Hogans character, and not necessarily his wrestling ability, to catapult the WWF into the mainstream.  Flair on the other hand, was the arrogant pretty boy cheater, full of wrestling ability, charisma and interview skills.  In contrast to Hogan’s fan appeal, Flair was a heel (“bad guy”) for most of his career.  While Hogan lectured the fans to “say your prayers, and eat your vitamins”, Flair boasted that he was “a limousine ridin’, jet flyin’, kiss stealin’, wheelin’ dealin’ son of a gun.” (more…)
